Revco Solutions Inc. has recently begun organizing monthly roundtable events online. As we hear of more interest in these events, we thought it would be useful to share a bit more about them and why we wanted to start them.
We chatted with John Cook, who moderates the panels and hosts a related podcast.
Q: What is The Revenue Roundtable?
A: It is a virtual gathering of healthcare and industry professionals that started in November 2020. We wanted to provide an opportunity for those who needed conservation and education in the middle of a pandemic. As our website states, “Education and connections are tough to come by these days — especially in an industry facing challenges on all fronts. That’s why Revco Solutions is now hosting a virtual education event for healthcare executives and professionals.”
Q: Where did you get the idea?
A: The idea came from my experience as a host and facilitator for HFMA and AAHAM in 2013. Although live events, they continued until the pandemic forced the cancellations of conferences and events. Folks continued to need to gather together for education, so Revco Solutions responded.
Q: Who can attend or who should attend?
A: As I look back on the beginning of my career, I recall how a group of Revenue Cycle Directors in Western NC hospitals formed a monthly meeting rotating at our sites. We would gather for the morning and close with lunch. The monthly event centered on discussing the needs and issues at hand. It eventually became the chartering of Carolina AAHAM (formerly AGPAM) in 1983.
I encourage all revenue directors, staff members, and those in need of learning, sharing our successes, and even our failures to participate. No preparation is needed.
Q: What format is the Roundtable in, and what can I expect as an attendee? Can I speak or ask questions?
A: Roundtables are an hour long and occur every other month. They are online using Zoom. The format involves a facilitator keeping attendees focused on talking points based on the subject.
Our panelists will be shown on video, but it’s not required for visitors and attendees.
Anyone can speak, ask questions, or some may just want to listen. An attendee once said, “I learned more in a morning than a week at a conference.” And honestly, that is the goal.
Q: How do you choose the topics? Can I submit a topic suggestion?
A: The topics are based on issues at hand, education needed surrounding something new, and even how we have survived the challenges. As a facilitator, I encourage professionals to submit a topic.
